More information on Wild brown Trout
River Teifi
The Wild Trout Trust is involved in a range of educational, research and habitat improvement activities.
As well as initiating our own rehabilitation projects we act as a catalyst for getting other people’s projects under way, by providing them with encouragement, advice and funding. We also run the annual Wild Trout Conservation Award, sponsored by Classic Malts, to celebrate the efforts of those involved.
The Wild Trout Trust was born during a car journey that started with rescuing half-dead trout from a drying riverbed in Dorset and finished at an Irish limestone stream which, for lack of a water-hungry suburbia and by the happy accident that the Board of Works had never dredged it, showed just how perfect a wild trout stream could still be in these islands, even at the tail-end of a big drought.
