New to wild trout fishing?

River Wye

In association with the Wild Trout Trust and Fly Fishing Breaks, spend two days at Caer Beris Manor, Wales, with the 'Wild Trout Experience'. This is a great opportunity to learn how to fish a river for wild trout and grayling under the tuition of expert fishing guides and conservationists.
The Wild Trout Experience is a partnership project brought to you in association with Fly Fishing Breaks, Environment Agency Fishing Wales Project, Orvis and Wye & Usk Foundation
Arriving on Sunday Sept 3rd in time for tea and introductory talks on wild trout, their habitat and behaviour, followed by a 3-course dinner. Breakfast on Monday morning will be followed by a session on river tackle and tactics from Orvis (and loan of rods etc. if required), before moving off to the local rivers to fish on rotating beats with local guides for the day (packed lunch included). On Monday evening it's time to swap experiences in the bar and then enjoy dinner.

Unaccompanied fishing can be arranged for Tuesday.

Hotel Details

A fly fishing hotel set in 27 acres of parkland surrounded by the River Irfon, Caer Beris (http://www.caerberis.co.uk/) is the former home of Lord Swansea. The current owners, Peter and Katharine Smith, have spent the past 18 years restoring and converting the Manor into a welcoming family run, three star country house hotel.
The individually furnished bedrooms, comfortable lounges overlooking the gardens, historic panelled restaurant and well-stocked bar all help create a relaxing hideaway in the very Heart of Wales.
The finest local produce is used to create the dishes in the award winning Tudor Restaurant. Among the many choices on the four course menu are always Welsh Lamb and Welsh Black Beef along with a wide range of local Welsh Cheeses.
The AA have awarded the hotel a coveted rosette for food for the past seven years.
Fishing: Some of the best fly fishing in Britain is on the doorstep. The River Irfon flows through the hotel grounds and has first class grayling, trout and coarse fish. The largest salmon in recent years weighed 38lbs!
