Llyn Alaw is a large lowland reservoir about 777 acres in a rural setting in North Anglesey. It is well known for it's rich feeding that produces wild Brown Trout up to four pounds in weight yearly and allows stocked rainbow to double their weight in the several months after stocking. Llyn Alaw is one of the most productive lakes in Wales. Corixa, shrimp and rudd fry are the staple diet of the brown and rainbow trout. The stocking has been increased to 16,500 fish and float tubes may be used for the first time.
A feature of the fishery is the large number of over wintered rainbow caught each spring,these are in superb condition and more like Sea Trout than stocked rainbows. Worm, fly and spinner are allowed

Block Bookings
Any group of 20 or more anglers may obtain permits at a concessionary rate.
Payments must be received at least 10 days in advance.

Rover Ticket
Brenig, Alaw and Alwen are the only Reservoirs covered by the Rover Season Permits.
Any permit holder is entitled to fish at another reservoir of the same or lower price category.
Concessions
Concessionary permits will only be issued to persons who at the time of issue are either: -

Float tubing is allowed £5 pounds daily fee and season permit holders can use their own boat at £67.50 pounds per season.

Disabled facilities.
Parking on the lakeside allowed in several places. Other places a short walk from car parks. Toilet open at all times. Wheely boat available, best to book in advance.
Permits
Available from machine that takes 2 pound 1 pound and 50 p coins. or from the rangers office. Environment Agency fishing licences available from rangers office.
Directions.
Set in north Anglesey between Amlwch and Holyhead. Llyn Alaw is signposted from J. 5 on the A 55. There are also other signs on the A 5 and roads in the Llanechymedd and Rhosgoch areas.
